A message from our Pastor
Dear Parish family,
I want to share some personal news with you, and I do so with gratitude to the Lord and to Archbishop Wenski. Beginning the weekend of August 1st & 2nd, I will be taking a three-month sabbatical.
A sabbatical is a long-standing tradition in priestly life, a dedicated period for prayer, spiritual renewal, rest, and ongoing formation after many years of ministry. Priests are encouraged to take this time away every 7 years, but I have never taken that opportunity until now.
This is not something unusual; it is part of the healthy rhythm of long-term ministry, allowing a priest to step away for a time so that he can return spiritually renewed and refreshed for the work God has entrusted to him.
These past five years as your pastor have been full and beautiful. Together we have accomplished so much. We have walked through significant seasons of growth, prayer, challenge, visioning, and most recently the completion of our strategic planning work. After 23 years as a priest, this feels like a fitting moment to step away briefly for what I would describe as an extended retreat: a time to pray, reflect, rest, and allow the Lord to renew my heart as your pastor.
I will be back in early November, before Advent, grateful, re-energized, and ready to continue the mission the Lord has given us here at St. John Neumann.
During my absence, the parish will be in very capable hands. Fr. Nick will serve as temporary administrator, with the support of our new parochial vicar, Fr. Carlos along with our excellent Parish Leadership Team and staff. Even now, we are working carefully to ensure the parish runs smoothly during my absence.
Please know that you are always in my prayers, and I already know I will miss being with you. It is a great privilege to serve as your pastor. Please continue to keep me, Fr. Nick, Fr. Carlos, and all priests in your prayers.

Un Mensaje del Nuestro Parroco
Estimada familia parroquial,
Quiero compartir con ustedes una noticia personal, y lo hago con gratitud al Señor y al Arzobispo Wenski. A partir del fin de semana del1 y 2 de Agosto, tomaré un sabático de tres meses.
Un sabático es una tradición arraigada en la vida sacerdotal, un período dedicado a la oración, la renovación espiritual, el descanso y la formación continua tras muchos años de ministerio. Se anima a los sacerdotes a tomarse este tiempo cada siete años, pero yo nunca había aprovechado esa oportunidad hasta ahora.
Esto no es algo inusual; forma parte del ritmo saludable del ministerio a largo plazo, que permite al sacerdote alejarse por un tiempo para que pueda regresar espiritualmente renovado y fortalecido para la obra que Dios le ha encomendado.
Estos últimos cinco años como su pastor han sido plenos y hermosos. Juntos hemos logrado mucho. Hemos atravesado etapas significativas de crecimiento, oración, desafíos, visión y, más recientemente, la finalización de nuestro trabajo de planificación estratégica. Después de 23 años como sacerdote, siento que este es un momento oportuno para alejarme brevemente para lo que yo describiría como un retiro prolongado: un tiempo para orar, reflexionar, descansar y permitir que el Señor renueve mi corazón como su pastor.
Regresaré a principios de noviembre, antes del Adviento, agradecido, con energías renovadas y listo para continuar la misión que el Señor nos ha encomendado aquí en St. John Neumann.
Durante mi ausencia, la parroquia quedará en muy buenas manos. El padre Nick ejercerá como administrador interino, con el apoyo de nuestro nuevo vicario parroquial, el padre Carlos, junto con nuestro excelente equipo de liderazgo parroquial y el personal. Incluso ahora, estamos trabajando con esmero para asegurar que la parroquia funcione sin contratiempos durante mi ausencia.
Sepan que siempre están en mis oraciones, y sé que los extrañaré mucho. Es un gran privilegio servir como su párroco. Por favor, sigan orando por mí, el padre Nick, el padre Carlos y todos los sacerdotes.
